Pakistan among nations hit by ‘out of balance’ water cycle

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan was among the nations impacted by “an out of balance” hydrological cycle due to climate change in 2022, the World Meteorological Organisation said on Thursday and called for a fundamental policy shift towards better monitoring. The ‘ State of Global Water Resources 2022 Report ’ published by the WMO said over 50 per cent of the global catchment areas experienced deviations from normal river discharge conditions in 2022. Most of these areas were drier than normal, while a smaller percentage of basins displayed above or much above normal conditions. Number of critical Covid patients falls below 1,000 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Seven more Covid-related deaths were reported in Pakistan in the last 24 hours while 252 new cases of the pandemic took the infection tally to 1,283,475. According to the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) data, the death toll in the country has risen to 28,697 after seven people succumbed to the viral disease. The positivity rate was recorded at 0.71 per cent. There are a total of 958 Covid patients in critical care in hospitals across the country. Covid-19: Seven more deaths, 319 new cases in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: As many as 319 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported in Pakistan in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of confirmed infections to 1,281,559. According to the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) data, a total of 39,200 samples were tested during this period, out of which 319 turned out to be positive, showing a national positivity rate of 0.81 per cent.
